Happy Spring! I had a semi-chaotic change of season, but the blog is officially back on my list of priorities. I’ve been spending the time since my last post on research, organization, and experimentation. It’s come to my attention that even though I graduated with my B.A. in Photography about a year ago, I can never stop challenging myself to learn more about my field. In the wake of that realization, I decided to spend a few months on setting goals for myself that will help forward my career. The first step of my journey was research-- I hit the books, deciding to teach myself some new skills both behind the camera and in terms of online presentation. I updated my instagram account to better reflect my professionalism, and decided only to post my best work there. Once I had updated my online platform and had a few new tricks up my sleeve I realized that my camera was not keeping up with the growth of my skill set. The next step in the series ended up being researching and purchasing a new camera (a little sooner than I had originally anticipated). I asked around and read more online reviews than I ever thought I would, and am now the proud owner of a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with a new 24- 70 f 2.8. This camera is a huge upgrade compared to my Canon Rebel T5 and even after just taking a few photos I already notice a difference. With my new knowledge and camera, I expect the next few month will be a lot of trial and error-- but I am confident that my photos will stand out more than ever. *Below are some projects I have been working on. Wedding, candid photos with my new camera and a cake decorating competition for Bellingham 300th Anniversary.
